Blood, Thrones, and Emma of Normandy

In this episode, Rebecca Larson uncovers the extraordinary life of Emma of Normandy—a woman who defied the limitations of her time to become Queen of England not once, but twice. From child bride to political powerbroker, Emma navigated Viking invasions, shifting allegiances, and royal rivalries with unwavering determination. As wife to both Æthelred the Unready and King Cnut, and mother to two future kings, her influence shaped the English monarchy during one of its most turbulent eras. Discover the woman behind the crown—and why her story deserves to be remembered.

NEW SEASON: Alison Weir, Matthew Lewis and a Madwoman

Welcome to the new season!!   I wanted to start of the new season with a bang, and so I was able to line up best-selling author and historian Alison Weir. Alison stops by to chat about Katheryn Howard, the Tudors....and of course we talk about Thomas Seymour.   The second segment of the show is called 'Ask the Expert'. This segment is for my listeners to be able to submit their questions to a historian on a specific subject. This episode my expert is historian/author Matthew Lewis and he answers your Richard III (and princes in the Tower) questions.   Lastly, we wrap up the episode with a 'Brief History' - just like the old days, I tell you a story about a specific person who lived between 1485 and 1603...this time it's a fascinating story about a madwoman who claimed to be the daughter of.....(you'll have to listen).   *Patron exclusive content:   See Show Notes for all the Details Merchandise: https://bit.ly/3bJiEXz   Credits: Written by: Rebecca Larson & Steph Stohrer Voiced by: Rebecca Larson, Alison Weir and Matthew Lewis Produced by: Rebecca Larson Imaging by: Troy Larson  Music Credits: Music: Pavana alla veneziana by Paul O'Dette, Composed by Joan Ambrosio Dalza Resources: TudorsDynasty.com TudorsDynastyPodcast.com Patreon.com/TudorsDynasty

Historian Dr. Estelle Paranque on Queen Elizabeth I

Historian Dr. Estelle Paranque on Queen Elizabeth I

*Warning: This episode contains some explicit language, nothing serious, but don't listen with little ears around.   Dr Estelle Paranque is Lecturer in Early Modern History at New College of the Humanities at Northeastern, and an Honorary Research Fellow within the Centre for the Study of the Renaissance at the University of Warwick. She is the author of Elizabeth I of England Through Valois Eyes: Power, Representation, and Diplomacy in the Reign of the Queen, 1558-1588 (Palgrave Macmillan, 2018) and has published several essays on Elizabeth I, French monarchs, and other European queens.   I had the privilege to speak with historian Dr Estelle Paranque on the subject, by the way, her favorite subject, and we discussed everything from her relationship with Robert Dudley, her similarities to Anne Boleyn, and yes, I found a way to discuss Thomas Seymour - because, let’s be honest, you can’t talk about Elizabeth’s early years without discussing Thomas.   For Show Notes, please go to https://tudorsdynastypodcast.com/show-notes/ -- Written by: Rebecca Larson Voiced by: Rebecca Larson & Dr Estelle Paranque Produced by: Rebecca Larson Imaging by: Troy Larson Music Credits:Music from https://filmmusic.io"Folk Round" by Kevin MacLeod (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/)
