Episode 31: Super Eagles Squad for Central African Republic double-header announced & Awoniyi dazzles in the Bundesliga!

In this episode of the podcast, I preview our upcoming World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic taking place on Thursday October 7th at the Teslim Balogun stadium with the squad announced last week including 1st time call ups for Rangers left back Calvin Bassey & Union Berlin hotshot striker Taiwo Awoniyi who’s been rewarded for his excellent start to the season in the Bundesliga and UEFA Conference League for Union Berlin. Frank Onyeka and Kevin Akpoguma are also back in the squad after missing out in September after both tested positive for COVID 19 then.

Awoniyi scored a brace on Sunday for Union Berlin away to his former club Mainz to go along with his goal in the UEFA Conference League earlier in the week on Thursday taking his tally to 8 for the season in just 11 games

Kelechi Iheanacho got his 1st Premier League start of the season on Sunday away to Crystal Palace and justified his selection by scoring his 1st Premier League goal of the season on his 25th birthday so hopefully we’ll see him retain his starting spot going forward

Maduka Okoye was unlucky to be on the losing side after making 9 saves in Sparta Rotterdam’s 2-1 away loss to high-flying PSV Eindhoven & Ahmed Musa also grabbed an assist for Fatih Karagümrük as they romped to a 3-1 home win against former champions Istanbul Basekshir
