The murder of Florida State University law professor Dan Markel in 2014 shocked the nation, and now, more than a decade later, his former mother-in-law Donna Adelson is set to stand trial for his killing. Prosecutors allege that Adelson was part of a murder-for-hire plot orchestrated to end a bitter custody battle between Markel and her daughter, Wendi Adelson. Markel was gunned down in his Tallahassee driveway in broad daylight, a crime authorities say was carried out by hired hitmen with ties to the Adelson family. Donna Adelson’s upcoming trial is expected to reveal explosive new evidence, witness testimony, and details about the conspiracy that’s been unraveling for years.
