AI Outwits CAPTCHA: A Security Wake-Up Call

AI Outwits CAPTCHA: A Security Wake-Up Call

A new research paper from ETH Zurich demonstrates that artificial intelligence can now successfully bypass CAPTCHA puzzles, a security measure widely used on websites to distinguish humans from bots.

The AI model, based on the YOLO (You Only Look Once) framework, achieved a near-perfect success rate in solving CAPTCHA's image-based challenges.

This breakthrough highlights the rapid advancement of AI and poses a significant threat to online security, as it could enable malicious bots to engage in activities like spam, fake account creation, and DDoS attacks.

Websites and service providers may need to implement more sophisticated security measures to address the threat posed by AI's ability to circumvent CAPTCHA.
