Elara and I traveled to Paonia, Colorado, which sits fairly close to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Our interview is with Eugenia McGuire, otherwise known as "Oogie". She raises Black Welsh Mountain Sheep on her farm, which sits high above the town of Paonia. Oogie sells pretty much everything sheep, including mutton, horns, and wool in various forms like raw fleeces, roving, and yarn. She is a true steward of the land and these animals. Support the show

Stephen Monroe works for the Florida Department of Agriculture in Tallahassee, managing the Florida Cracker Cattle and Florida Cracker Horse herds. He is a learned historian, a witty conversationalist, and is know very rightly as "The Cowboy Poet." We traveled to Colorado this past year and attended the National Western Stock Show in Denver. While there, we met Val Barnica and Ken Spann, who were competing in the team pull events with their Suffolk Punch horses. After our short interview there, they invited us up to their ranch, The Y Bar Hitch, in Montrose, Colorado, to see their six-hitch team in action at the Gunnison Cattlemen's Days Parade, and to see their beautiful horses up close.
