Sheffield United 1-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report

Sheffield United 1-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report

This was a great advert for The Championship, as Ryan Yates' stoppage-time goal rescued a point for the Reds, who had trailed to Billy Sharp's 70th minute header. In truth, Forest should have wrapped it up before the Blades scored, with decent chances for Davis, Zinckernagel and Cook; Brennan Johnson will also go back to practising penalties at the training ground as his first half spot kick was easily saved by Wes Foderingham. It was 70 minutes of wondering how we hadn't scored, and then 25 minutes of fearing that we would get battered; but good saves by Ethan Horvath, along with great tackles by Cook and Zinckernagel (yes, really), and a poor pass from Daniel Jebbison gave the Reds the opportunity to snatch a share of the spoils right at the death. Rich Ferraro and Baz discuss whether this was two points dropped or one gained. Memory lane: West Brom 1-3 Nottingham Forest, 8 January 2010

On a cold, snowy January night, Billy Davies’ Forest went to second placed West Bromwich Albion and blew them away. The match is best remembered for emotional celebrations by Chris Cohen and his team mates, and THAT goal by Radi Majewski; however this was a scintillating and complete performance by the Reds. Steven Toplis remembers the night. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Baz remembers the long midweek visit to Carrow Road in 1995, as high-flying Forest took on Norwich City. Much of the match was unremarkable, but the second half saw a small but vocal away support turned the volume up a notch, and a late goal from Steve Stone saw Forest take the points. OK, so there is no football at the moment, but there is still plenty to discuss: is the enforced break good for Forest; Sabri Lamouchi's contract; Forest furloughing some of their staff; and who does the best workout videos - Matty Cash or Joao Carvalho? In the second of our series, Rich Ferraro stays in the astonishing 1994-95 season. Two each from Roy and Collymore added to a missile from Pearce, a smart run and finish from Woan and yet another sublime finish from Bohinen that had to be seen to be believed. Even the Wednesday fans were applauding the Reds at the end. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Jeremy Davies is taking us back in time to the autumn of 1994. Forest had just been promoted and had made a blistering unbeaten start to the season. Tottenham were media darlings, but on the day there was only one winner, with two goals from Bryan Roy, one from Steve Stone and an absolute belter from Bohinen sealing the victory. Thrown to the Lions: Nottingham Forest 0-3 Millwall mini match report

Millwall put in a tactical masterclass in the first half, earning them three goals and three points. Forest were lacking in energy and pace, leading to the Lions exploiting the flanks, exposing the Reds’ full-backs and midfield, and enabling their giant striker Matt Smith to bully his way to a hat-trick.
