51. Defy Gravity By Building Strength, with Patricia Ladis, Holistic Physical Therapist

Ladies, sit up and take note! That was a posture joke, but Patricia Ladis is not kidding. “No matter what, every woman over 35 should start strength training,” she says, which is not an unfamiliar recommendation to many of us by now, but I loved this chat with her because she really drives home the WHY. And the HOW. So no joke-take notes.

In historical studies of conditions that primarily affect women, women were not part of the study until 1993. Yep. So when we say it's on us to manage our own health, we are literally bearing that weight.

WE COVERED:

  • How our physical bodies begin to deteriorate and disintegrate as we age, and what we can do to stave it off
  • Bone density loss-you've heard the term countless times but do you actually know what it means?
  • Posture as the key to priming the deep muscle system
  • What building muscle can do for our bodies, our organs, and our brains
  • What actually happens to our bodies when we sit for prolonged periods of time
  • One way to prevent and manage back pain that you've never considered before
  • The critical importance of rest & recovery

Patricial Ladis is a Holistic Physical Therapist, Behavioral Breathing and Biomechanical Analyst, the Founder & CEO, WiseBody PT, and the Author of The Wise Woman’s Guide to Your Healthiest Pregnancy & Birth. Patricia works with professional dancers, professional tennis players, Olympians, collegiate and junior athletes.

Patricia is certified in Kinetic Control’s Performance Matrix Screen (TPM) and is working toward her Visceral Manipulation Certification. She is certified in the Integrative Systems Model (Diane Lee, LJ Lee) (for root-cause diagnosis), Perinatal Mood Disorders (PSI) and is working toward her Visceral Manipulation Certification. She has international post-graduate certificates focused on orthopedic manual therapy, biomechanical assessment, nerve pain (including neurodynamics), chronic pain, tennis rehab, sports PT, real-time ultrasound neuromuscular re-education, injury prevention, prenatal/postpartum wellness, diastasis recti resolution, nutrition and holistic health.

Patricia is proud to be part of the HOLOGIC + WTA Women’s Health Task Force to support the female athlete and active females globally.
