3 Shocking Female Serial Killers
Female serial killers are rare, but that doesn't mean they're any less vicious. This week, Amy and Chris profile 3 of the most incredible cases involving serial killers of the fairer sex.In the first story, Chris details Delphine LaLaurie, who was a sadistic murderer and torturer from New Orleans. She was a wealthy and well-connected woman who carried out her horrible acts within the comfort of her Louisiana mansion. Most of her victims were slaves on her property, and she subjected them to burning, dismembering and many other atrocities. Her crimes were so sickening, a mob drove her out and she exiled herself to France. Information on her and her family after this time is very limited. The first female American serial killer, Belle Gunness, is often overshadowed by Aileen Wuornos, but Belle walked so Aileen could run. Belle was born in Norway and emigrated to the United States in 1881. Belle's victims were mostly wealthy men who she managed to lure onto her Indiana farm under the guise of sex, love and marriage. The exact amount of Belle's victims is unknown, but it could be as high as 40 people! Belle supposedly died in a fire, but many believe that she faked her deathDanish serial killer Dagmar Overbye murdered as many as 25 children, including one of her own between 1913 and 1920. She is believed to the inspiration for the witch in the famous story "Hansel and Gretel." Dagmar opened up a daycare, which became a nearly endless supply of babies for her to kill in the most gruesome of fashions. Luckily for us, her death in prison is well-recorded.Finally, Amy brings you a bonus story about Leonarda Cianciulli, otherwise known The Soap-Maker of Correggio. But the soap she made had a secret and gruesome ingredient, human flesh. Leonarda somehow got it into her mind that her son needed spiritual protection as he was fighting in World War II. Her solution was to lure vulnerable women to her home where she killed, dismembered, and repurposed their body parts as soap, cakes and even clothing.Send your true crime suggestions to hello@truecrimerecaps!Support the show AND listen ad-free here!: https://truecrimerecaps.supercast.tech/Listen and subscribe now to ‘The Trials of Frank Carson’ on LATIMES.com, or listen and subscribe on Apple, Spotify or wherever you get podcastsDesign like a pro with Canva Pro! Was Ed Kemper Born to Kill?
This week, Chris and Amy explore the troubled upbringing and brutal crimes of notorious serial killer Edmund "Ed" Kemper AKA the Coed Killer. Ed Kemper stands at an intimidating 6'9" and purportedly has a genius-level IQ of 145. He has claimed 10 victims, including his paternal grandparents and his own mother. Amy breaks down Ed's series of murders and rapes throughout California, targeting mainly vulnerable college women, and used his keen intellect and friendly demeanor to disarm his victims enough to put themselves in dangerous situations.Amy also examines how Ed's abusive childhood may have contributed to his killings. At the age of only 15, Ed claimed his first victims, his grandmother and grandfather. Ed claims his grandmother was also abusive and belittling, and killed her in a fit of rage. He then killed his grandfather to spare him seeing his wife dead. After being sent to a psychiatric ward and being labeled a paranoid schizophrenic, Ed became a model prisoner and even convinced the psychiatrist that he was a reformed young man. Unfortunately, this would allow Ed to kill 8 more innocent victims, culminating in the murder and desecration of his mother, before turning himself in to the police in 1973.So the age-old question remains, was Ed predisposed to be a killer due to his genetics or is the way he was raised to blame?Send your true crime suggestions to hello@truecrimerecaps!Support the show AND listen ad-free here!: https://truecrimerecaps.supercast.tech/Go to analuisa.com/true to treat yourself and your loved ones and use code TRUE to get 10% off!Design like a pro with Canva Pro! Ted Bundy Suspected in 3 Cold Case Murders
The details of Ted Bundy's crimes and capture are well-documented, but this episode isn't a recap of Ted's infamy, this is about 3 cold cases that could potentially be added to this serial killer's lore. This week, Amy and Chris bring you the stories of a few little-known murders that have yet to be solved, and could very well be the work of Ted Bundy.Ted's first confirmed murder was around 1972, but some speculate that Ted might've killed 8-year-old Ann Marie Burr at the age of 14. Ann Marie disappeared in her hometown of Tacoma, Washington in 1961 and has yet to be found. The amount of circumstantial evidence potentially pointing towards Ted is overwhelming, including the fact that they actually knew each other and Ann Marie would follow Ted around whenever he was in town. So was she Ted's actual first victim? The second suspicious case are the murders of flight attendants Lisa Wick and Lonnie Trumbull. Their roommate returned home one day to find her friends brutally attacked, with Lonnie succumbing to her injuries. The attack of these women is remarkably similar to one of Ted's confirmed attacks on a sorority several years later. Lonnie's murder is still unsolved, but there's little doubt in many's minds, including the surviving victim, Lisa, that Ted is the prime suspect. Finally, Amy details the double murder of Susan Davis and Elizabeth Perry. The women were found stabbed to death by a New Jersey policeman, and appeared to be sexually assaulted. Bundy happened to enrolled in a nearby college and has been long-thought to be the murderer. Of course, this is still an unsolved case and other suspects have considered as well, but it's hard to deny that the killings closely match Bundy's MO.Send your true crime suggestions to hello@truecrimerecaps!Support the show AND listen ad-free here!: https://truecrimerecaps.supercast.tech/Go to HelloFresh.com/tcr14 and use code tcr14 for up to 14 free meals plus free shipping!Go to TheOuai.com and use code TCR to get 15% off your entire purchaseVisit analuisa.com/true. On the night of the killing, Paris somehow convinced the babysitter to go home early. He spent the rest of the night watching violent pornography and snuff films, cataloging ideas on what he would do to his baby sister. So why did he do it? To punish his mother in the ultimate way.The 2nd child victim was James Bulger. Amy details how 10-year-olds Robert Thompson and Jon Venables brutally killed James after luring him away from his mother at a local mall. The details of how James spent his final moments is agonizing, and Robert and Jon almost got away with it. But even after getting caught, Robert and Jon were merely given a slap on the wrist and are currently living in society under new identities, not made public. And in the final story, Chris brings you the case of Tristyn Bailey, a 13-year-old found stabbed 114 times in the woods.
