When Life Turns Upside Down

Welcome to Episode 15 of the Barre Buzz. Today we talk with Bern Rose and she courageously shares her experience with Lyme Disease. Bern, with the help of others she met that were suffering with Lyme Disease, enhanced the path of treatment and prevention here in Vermont. *In 2011, after 7 years, a group of Vermonters with lyme and families, finally got the State of VT to acknowledge that Lyme exists in VT and pass a law protecting practitioners from sanctions for treating folks with Lyme disease with more than 2 weeks with antibiotics. I do not support the one day dose of antibiotics. I now understand that Chinese medicine and special herbs supporting your own body can be helpful and work for some people in the first days of getting a tick embedded. If there is a clinical diagnosis of lyme, antibiotics may be needed for longer periods of time, as well as testing for co-infections, checking for heavy metal poisoning, all complicating factors. COVID has been triggering and exacerbates symptoms of Lyme, for some a dual diagnosis overload. I hope you will work on prevention, so the gnarly road of after care isn’t your journey. And remember, finding your way will require work, letting go, acceptance, and kindness to yourself. Women are often not validated as being ill, so persist! For me, lyme has also included addressing trauma, ancestral healing, and finding my way in the spiritual realm.I’ll do what I can if you have questions, but please do your own research first. I am forever managing my own health. Bern - dulcimeralive@gmail.com
