The 17 Hour Fast: Reset your eating to sort your life out – Phil White #174

NOTE FROM TONY - UPDATED AFTER AUDIO ISSUE BUT ON SPOTIFY ORIGINAL FILE IS STILL THERE. DON'T ASK ME WHY BUT THIS IS ONE YOU'LL HAVE TO LISTEN TO SOMEWHERE ELSE BECAUSE SOME LOUD MUSIC COMES IN HALF WAY THROUGH. CHECK TONYWRIGHTON.COM OR ANOTHER SERVICE. HAVE A GREAT DAY

Fasting is a regular topic on Zestology. Not eating for a certain length of time every day. There seems no doubt it's good for us. But for how long? How strict should we be? What's allowed and not allowed? I've delved deep into this stuff and I've still got more questions than answers.

So my friend Phil White is back to talk fasting for a very specific 17 hours a day. Rest assured I pepper him with questions about it, cos when you look at the promises and the benefits of fasting, it seems important to get it right...

- Cut cholesterol, reduce bacterial overgrowth, and lower toxins
- Start making lifestyle changes that lower body weight and BMI and reduce body fat
- Improve digestive issues like IBS, fatty liver disease, and acid reflux
- Boost physical and cognitive performance
- Break free from habitual and boredom-related eating
- Create a rich, fully engaged experience before, during, and after fasting
- Achieve many of the benefits of a 48-hour fast in less than half the time, while avoiding many of the risks of more extreme fasts
- Overcome food-related psychological and behavioral issues while turning destructive habits into healthy ones
- Reduce sugar dependence
- Achieve more restful and restorative sleep
- Use fasting to strengthen work-life balance, improve relationships, and focus on helping others

Okay I'm in. Listen on for more.

The Singing Doctor - with oncologist Dr. Steven Eisenberg #40

The Singing Doctor - with oncologist Dr. Steven Eisenberg #40

A doctor that sings to his patients. I know - it sounds utterly crazy doesn't it. I must admit I was super sceptical before I interviewed Dr. Steven Eisenberg, and now I confess I'm won over by his sheer energy and enthusiasm for looking after his patients physical and emotional wellbeing. But you can make your own mind up. Just make sure you listen, as he's a true healer, and he's certainly not conventional. He's won awards for the way he looks after his patients. How good would it be to have a doctor that looked after your emotional as well as your physical needs? Dr. Steven Eisenberg is a board certified oncologist who is certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Hematology, and is most known for his love of writing songs for people living with cancer through The Lyrical Life Foundation.  He was just nominated for Best Bedside Manner for Medical Specialties in the Tri-city Medical Center, Academy Awards and for good reason. He also has tens of thousands of followers on social media and now has his own TV show starting soon.   JOIN the Zestology MAILING LIST by going to our website (http://www.tonywrighton.com) Connect with Tony on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/tonywrighton If you love the show, please take a moment to rate & review it on iTunes. Meditation

Meditation

Dan Harris on meditation. Does it make you 10% happier? #39 Learn how to tame the voice in your head Reduce stress without losing your edge Find self-help that actually works. I was having a coffee with my mate James a couple of months ago and he recommended me a book called 10% Happier. "I haven't read it yet, so I can't vouch for it", he said, "but someone told me it's good". Hmmm, not exactly the most enthusiastic of endorsements, but for some reason I decided to go and buy the book anyway. A couple of months on, I'm blown away by how good it is, and how inspiring it was for me personally. The story starts with American ABC Good Morning America presenter Dan Harris having a traumatic breakdown, live on air. This experience leads him down the path of trying to find answers, which he eventually does with meditation, the thing that makes him '10% happier'. I messaged Dan straight after I finished the book, and I'm so pleased he's come on Zestology. He's got a great story, and this is undoubtedly one of my all-time favourite Zestology podcasts. If you're a meditation sceptic (or skeptic), listen on. If you are a convert, definitely listen on, as this will provide more answers and some inspiration towards developing your meditative mojo.   JOIN the Zestology MAILING LIST by going to our website (http://www.tonywrighton.com) Connect with Tony on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/tonywrighton If you love the show, please take a moment to rate & review it on iTunes.
