The Joy Of Missing Out #259

The Joy Of Missing Out #259

A short, sweet podcast on The Joy of Missing Out. It's so important. Doing less, saying no, disconnecting and watching Dancing On Ice on the telly. Or whatever it might be.

Fear of missing out, or FOMO is wrecking our lives. So this podcast is a compilation of some of my favourite podcast guests, past and future who live a JOMO life… And my thoughts on JOMO too.

You'll hear

  • Sarah Knight
  • Katie Brindle
  • Chris Ryan
  • Brett Moran

Between them they live on four continents, and very much walk-the-walk when it comes to doing less and enjoying life, in their own different ways.

How to find your inner caveman (or cavewoman) with author and BBC presenter Tim Samuels #68

How to find your inner caveman (or cavewoman) with author and BBC presenter Tim Samuels #68

Award-winning BBC broadcaster and journalist Tim Samuels is on Zestology this week. He's just written a new book called Who Stole My Spear? Getting back to nature and reconnecting is so important. It's a recurring theme on Zestology, and Tim Samuels is the perfect person to help transport us back a few thousand years! Coming up: How can you hunt and gather in an open-plan office? Why is singing so good for us on a primal level? How can you get more caveman on a day to day basis? And where does your DNA tell you that you originate from? Tim stops at nothing to explore how men should actually be living these days. From relationships, religion, and the rise of ISIS, to porn, fatherhood and the oppression of office life. Nothing is taboo. Oh and if you're a woman, there's tons of content in here for you too. In fact I found Tim one of the most knowledgeable and definitely wittiest guests I've interviewed. We recorded in my local park, which Tim describes in very amusing detail at the start of the podcast.

Gretchen Rubin on experiments in the pursuit of happiness and good habits #65 "Don't let books become the spinach of your life" Just one of my favourite quotes from Gretchen Rubin in this week's Zestology podcast. By this she means don't only read worthy books/eat spinach because you feel obliged. Read and eat the good stuff. Gretchen is a big name and an awesome guest for Zestology podcast. And books were quite a theme in this interview. She's the author of several blockbuster New York Times bestsellers. She has an enormous readership, both in print and online, and her books have sold more than two million copies worldwide, in more than thirty languages. So I spoke to her on this podcast about upgrading some of our habits. Like: How to read more How to get over decision fatigue And how to pass the toothpaste test (we basically invented this during the podcast) Good habits help you to make better decisions, as it turns out. So listen to Gretchen help you upgrade your habits.
