The Secrets of Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee

The Secrets of Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee

Today I’m joined by Sean Deer, Managing Director of Yahweh Distributors and Authur McGowan, CEO of Trumpet Tree Coffee Factory.

Sean and Authur respectively distribute and produce Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee, and have done for decades. Trumpet Tree Coffee Factory are the world’s 3rd largest producer of Blue Mountain Coffee in Jamaica.

In this episode, we discuss the history and origin of Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee, what makes it’s flavour profile so unique, how Sean and Authur survived the challenging Covid period and how they both got started in the coffee industry.

The Blue Mountains of Jamaica offer high altitude growing conditions, with soil low in acidity and plenty of shade thanks to inter-crop planting with Banana trees.

These same conditions also allow both brands to produce some of the best tasting cocoa in the world, which goes into their award winning chocolate bars! They even have a unique Jamaican “Jerk” flavoured bar, which won Gold at the Academy of Chocolate Awards.

Both Sean and Authur are looking to expand into new territories with exciting new ventures in the coming months, including wine, coffee scrubs and Jerk sauces.
