  • The show premieres January 18, 2026 with a six episode first season.

  • This is a character driven road story that follows Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg.

  • Expect a lighter tone with humor and smaller scale conflicts that still ripple across Westeros later.

  • Do not expect dragon spectacles or sprawling palace intrigue. The focus is on people and choices.

  • The Ashford tournament is the centerpiece of season one and sets many threads in motion.

  • Newcomers can jump in without prior lore. Readers can enjoy extra context from the novellas or the comic adaptation.

  • “This is going to be a lot lighter than I expected, with jokes and quips, and it’s going to be kind of a fun story.”

  • “It’s about these guys on the road and some of the small choices they make that have big impacts later on.”

  • “You won’t see big dragons. Dragons are gone at this point.”

Pacific Rim Prequel Series in Development: Exploring the Kaiju Origins

Pacific Rim Prequel Series in Development: Exploring the Kaiju Origins

Hey, everyone! Legendary is bringing back Pacific Rim with a brand new prequel series. This one’s going to dive into the origins of the kaiju franchise, something we haven't really seen explored in depth before. The show is being developed by Eric Heisserer, the writer behind Arrival and Shadow and Bone, under a new deal with Legendary. This could be a great chance to dig deeper into the backstory of the Pacific Rim universe and see how it all started. I think exploring the origins of the franchise is a smart move that could really add some depth to the world Guillermo del Toro created back in 2013. Stay tuned for more updates!

James Gunn Pledges Better Working Conditions for VFX Artists at DC Studios

James Gunn Pledges Better Working Conditions for VFX Artists at DC Studios

As DC Studios prepares to kick off Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, fans are eagerly awaiting the new lineup of films and shows, starting with Creature Commandos in December. But alongside the excitement, there are concerns about how VFX artists are treated in the industry. James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, recently addressed these concerns by promising better working conditions for these crucial artists. In a recent post on Threads, Gunn assured fans that DC Studios is committed to giving VFX artists the time and respect they need to do their best work. "If you do some research you'll see my films have always taken a different approach and I've always given my VFX artist-collaborators time to do their jobs properly, and the respect they deserve," Gunn explained. He also praised the teams at Weta, Framestore, and ILM for their talent and dedication. The first film in DC Studios' new slate is Superman, directed by Gunn, which finished production last month. With a release date set for July 11, 2025, Gunn explained that they wrapped early to give VFX artists plenty of time to work without the usual last-minute rush. "This is why we wrapped on Superman a year before release and why they've been hard at work on many shots for months before that," Gunn said. He added that other projects, like Supergirl, are being handled with the same level of care. CGI has come a long way in superhero movies. Early films like Superman (1978) and Batman Forever (1995) used basic CGI, which was impressive at the time but limited by the technology. By the 2000s, movies like Spider-Man (2002) and X-Men (2000) started pushing the boundaries with more realistic effects, but this often came at the cost of long hours and intense pressure on VFX teams. Today, CGI in superhero movies is incredibly advanced, with characters and scenes that look almost real. However, the demand for high-quality effects often means VFX artists face tight schedules and heavy workloads, which has led to increasing calls for better treatment in the industry. James Gunn’s recent statements suggest that DC Studios is taking steps to address these issues and avoid the problems that have plagued other studios.
