According to AOL, the platform reached a preliminary deal in September to sell its U.S. operations to an American-based investor group, allowing TikTok to continue operating for its 170 million American users. The agreement involves spinning off TikTok's U.S. operations into a new joint venture with majority American ownership, with Oracle serving as the security provider. The deal includes notable investors like private equity firm Silver Lake, and billionaire tech investor Michael Dell, along with Rupert Murdoch and his son Lachlan Murdoch reportedly being part of the group.

This deal comes after months of uncertainty surrounding a potential ban due to concerns over data sharing with China. Under the arrangement, TikTok's algorithm would be under control of the new U.S. joint venture, with Oracle monitoring it to ensure it isn't used for malicious purposes. Beijing-based ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, would retain no more than 20 percent ownership of the U.S. operations under federal law requirements.

For creators looking to maximize their reach, Social Media Today recently highlighted research from Buffer showing that posting frequency significantly impacts performance. The study analyzed over 11 million TikTok uploads and found that posting more often leads to higher views per post. While posting two to five times per week gives a 17 percent boost in views, posting more than 11 times per week can double average performance rates by increasing the chances of creating that one viral hit.
