Dune: The Sisterhood – Canceled Dune: The Sisterhood, the HBO Max spinoff prequel series to Denis Villeneuve’s 2021 film Dune, is on production hiatus as the show has lost both its director, Johan Renck, and Shirley Henderson, an actor in a prominent role. Villeneuve had originally designed the series as a prequel to his film and announced it in 2019, but departed the project in 2022 to focus on shooting the second half of his Dune movie project. Warner Bros. is reportedly going through a significant wave of cost-cutting and reorganizing, leading to HBO Max canceling or dropping expensive series.
