LDS Church Announces New Prophet and 1st Presidency - Dallin Oaks, Henry Eyring, Todd Christofferson | Ep. 2071

LDS Church Announces New Prophet and 1st Presidency - Dallin Oaks, Henry Eyring, Todd Christofferson | Ep. 2071

Today, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced a new Prophet and First Presidency. Following the passing of President Russell M. Nelson, senior apostle Dallin H. Oaks has been called as the next Prophet and President of the Church, with Henry B. Eyring and D. Todd Christofferson as his counselors.

In this livestream reaction episode, we discuss the LDS system of prophetic succession (seniority-based), why these counselors choices are both expected AND surprising, who might fill the new vacancy in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, the health and age concerns surrounding the new leadership, and reactions to the official Church livestream, press conference and speeches given. We also explore the broader implications of the Church –including generational leadership, LGBTQ issues, and possible future apostolic calls.

Join us as we watch and react live to the LDS announcement of the new First Presidency.

The original broadcast can be viewed here.
