Decades of Abuse | The Turpin Family

In this episode, we will be discussing horrific instances of child abuse. Listener discretion is advised.
In 2018, a brave 17 year-old managed to escape the home where she had been held captive her entire life. She found a deactivated cell-phone that she took with her on her escape, and she called 911. She told police that she had been kept locked in a room for 20 hours a day and was allowed one shower per year.
When police arrived, they found TWELVE additional children locked in the house. Human feces, dead animals and rotten food covered the entire property. This was not a case of human trafficking or abduction though, this is the horrific case of the Turpin Family.
David and Louise Turpin had 13 children during their marriage. Outwardly, the parents portrayed the family as loving and close knit – they took the children on vacation to Disneyland and Vegas, where they all posed in matching outfits. In reality, they did not care for any of them and mistreated them in the worst possible ways. All of the children were uneducated and physically and emotionally abused. They used to eat ketchup, mustard and ice as there was literally nothing else to eat.
And what happened to some of the Turpin Children after they were rescued will break your heart.
In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast we discuss the case of the Turpin Family and their house of horrors.

Missing Corinna Slusser & Human Trafficking

Missing Corinna Slusser & Human Trafficking

The months before Corinna Slusser turned 19 were rocky, to say the least. It was 2017, she wasn’t getting along with her mom, she dropped out of high school right before graduation and she had a failed suicide attempt that landed her in the hospital.   While she was in the hospital, she met a man who would ultimately change the course of her life forever. Corinna left all of her belongings behind.  Taking only the clothes she was wearing, her phone and her ID, she headed to New York City in August 2017 with this man to follow her dreams. Corinna began escorting and working for various pimps before she vanished completely in September, 2017. Those who saw her last are quick to say she ran off, but police believe something much more sinister happened and that she became a victim of human trafficking. In this episode we discuss Corinna's disappearance and the prevalence of sex trafficking in the USA.  We also chat about the news that has had us all gripped this week -  the cases of runaway teen Madison Bell and the shocking murder of Alejandro Ripley.  Be sure to check out our blog for a timeline of Corinna’s disappearance plus screenshots of now deleted social media from those involved.
