Last month, we had the opportunity to take part in the inaugural BIOBY Mining and Energy Expo — surrounded by some of the sharpest minds in mining, energy, and environmental innovation. These are people who not only understand the systems that power our world, but who genuinely care about the people working within them. You can feel their passion — it’s in the way they talk about their work, their teams, and their impact.

While at the event, I sat down with Joe Lord of Turner Staffing Group for a conversation that was equal parts fun, insightful, and honest (maybe a little too honest — which, of course, makes it even better).

We talked about the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people, the culture that drives the skilled trades forward, and Joe’s perspective on supporting the men and women who make this industry move. And if you’ve ever wondered whether there’s real opportunity in mining and the trades, Joe summed it up perfectly: “Add a zero.”
