It's what the whole nation is talking about. A balloon from China floating over U.S. airspace. The Pentagon says it's on a spying mission flying directly over missile silos in Montana leading to calls to shoot it out of the sky. And we may not have even known it was there if not for the eagle eyes of this guy - one of the first people to spot the balloon. He spoke with Steven Fabian. And the record cold weather is wreaking havoc from Montana to Maine. And the word is, if you don’t have to go outside…stay indoors. And thanks to the deep freeze…there's a very rare weather phenomenon happening in some places. It's called “a frost quake.” Les Trent explains what it is. Plus, he was a doctor who took an afternoon bike ride on California’s Pacific Coast Highway. Now the emergency room physician is dead. Cops say a motorist intentionally slammed into him from behind and then stabbed him to death. The sheriff's department says they don't believe the two men knew each other...so was this a different kind of road rage? The driver has pleaded not guilty. And we've told you about the young model who was terribly disfigured after a pit bull ripped off her upper lip. Now, after a half a dozen surgeries and a whole lot determination...she's ready to show off her new smile. Inside Edition for Thursday, February 02, 2023
Another day another explosive video played at the trial of Alex Murdaugh, the disgraced attorney on trial for the murders of his wife and son. Jurors were shown Murdaugh planting a tree on his estate - authorities say that was a little over an hour before the slayings. Prosecutors asked jurors to focus on what he's wearing - Steven Fabian explains why. Murdaugh’s lawyer say he is innocent and had nothing to do with the murder of his wife and son. And here's what good sportsmanship doesn’t look like! A huge brawl erupts at a middle school basketball game among adults and spills onto the court, and one of the alleged participants - a grandfather - ended up dying a short time later. Les Trent reports. Plus, she's a former bachelor contestant married to a San Francisco 49ers linebacker, and she says fans of the Superbowl bound Philadelphia eagles were so rude to her that she'll never step foot in Eagles Stadium ever again. And if Tom Brady retired from the NFL so he could have more free time with his kids, he's off to a good start. The greatest quarterback of all time was just spotted sharing a sweet moment with his daughter. It didn't spark the reaction it did the last time, but football great Tom Brady announced he's retiring from football - and he says it’s for good this time. No sooner than he made the announcement came the speculation that maybe, just maybe, the super quarterback might get back together with his now ex-wife, supermodel Gisele Bunchen. What are the chances? Megan Alexander has details. And now, check out these guys - they're members of an off-road vehicle club, going out with their four-wheel drive Jeeps and trucks working together to pull stranded motorists out of snow and ice. With much of the country locked in a deep freeze, they told our Steven Fabian they've got plenty of work! Plus, can you imagine how frustrating it would be to have stranger after stranger ringing your doorbell at all hours? Even worse, they're there for sex! That's the horror this 66-year-old lady has been dealing with and she has no idea who any of those people are. As Ann Mercogliano reports, why it’s happening is a real shocker. And a dramatic moment today in the trial of Alex Murdaugh - the once prominent attorney burst into tears as prosecutors played a video that they say proves he was at the crime scene when his wife and son were murdered. Murdaugh has pleaded not guilty saying he had nothing to do with the murders. Baby it's cold outside! Tens of millions of Americans are locked in a deep freeze with parts of the country as far south as the Gulf Coast experiencing the coldest temperatures in years, and as Ann Mercogliano reports, the arctic blast has led to a number of dangerous slip-and-slides caught on tape. Plus, tributes are pouring in today for Cindy Williams - the actress who became a household name playing Shirley on the classic sitcom Laverne and Shirley. Just months ago, 75 year old Williams was touring the country in a one woman show. Now even her friends are shocked to hear of her passing. And just days after the entire nation was shocked by the bodycam footage showing Memphis police officers fatally beating Tyre Nichols comes another disturbing video of cops using deadly force. This time in Los Angeles where three officers shot and killed a double amputee who had allegedly just stabbed someone and was fleeing the scene. Steven Fabian has our report - and we warn you, the video is upsetting. Also, it's being called the Tesla Tirade - in an apparent act of road rage a man gets out of his Tesla on a busy Los Angeles highway and goes on the attack armed with a pipe! Cops say it wasn't an isolated incident - the man had allegedly attacked other motorists. Now he's been arrested and as Jim Moret tells us, it was a citizen sleuth who helped bring him in. Inside Edition for Monday, January 30, 2023
The week begins with more national outcry over the fatal beating of Tyre Nichols by five Memphis police officers. Over the weekend, the nation watched the extremely disturbing police bodycam video showing what happened in real time. Now the question is - what can be done about the toxic culture of violence that exists in certain police departments across the country so this doesn't happen again? Jim Moret has our report, and again we warn you - the video is upsetting. And it's official! We now know the Superbowl matchup will be between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. Celebrations spilled out into the streets in both cities, and in Philly things got really wild when some revelers ended up crashing right through the top of a glass bus stop canopy. Plus, what's it like to drive through the eye of a tornado?!? A grandmother in Texas found out first hand as she tried to escape the storm with her daughter and grandson, and she calls the experience terrifying. And Donald Trump made his first campaign stops this weekend in his 2024 run for the White House, and already its getting stormy- literally! Today the Manhattan D.A.'s office began presenting evidence to a grand jury about Trump allegedly paying hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels during his 2016 presidential campaign, laying the groundwork for potential criminal charges - but Trump is hitting back. The entire nation is on edge bracing for today's release of the bodycam video showing 29-year-old Tyre Nichols being beaten by five Memphis police officers leading to his death. The officers have been charged with murder, and the victim's family has called for calm. However, there's still expected to be strong reaction to the video that the police chief says is the worst she's ever seen. And earlier this week we told you about an arrest being made in the murder of a Microsoft executive who was gunned down as his toddler watched. Cops say the suspect didn't act alone...and that's making the murdered man's widow nervous that she could be in danger herself. Plus, the murder trial continued today for one-time prominent attorney, Alex Murdaugh, who's charged with fatally shooting his wife and son. At one point Murdaugh broke into sobs as audio was played of him being interviewed by detectives at the crime scene. Murdaugh has pleaded not guilty. When you think of seafood in a can you think sardines, but there are lots of other tinned fish in the sea...and they're now the go-to romantic meal for couples.
