This week on our motorcycle podcast we are joined by Wendy and Ian, who just got the official recognition from Guinness of their new world record. They are both veterans of the Iron Butt rallies and long distance riding, but that wasn't hard enough. They wanted the ultimate long distance riding challenge; visiting all of the United States in alphabetical order. Think about that. Here's just the first 5 in order: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California. And because Ian was on a tourist visa from Australia, they would only have a few months to complete it. With months of planning and preparation, what could go wrong? How about emergency surgery, hitting a kangaroo whilst on the first half of the trip in Australia, cracking a frame in half and lightning storms to name a few. They share their stories and tricks to keeping their older bikes running like tops, and how they managed to not give up. This is no small feat, especially in the Malle category, which is the most challenging for competitors. This is where you have no support and have to maintain your own bike after a long day of riding. Liza also got some more toy motorcycles, one of which is a limited edition Triumph Scrambler Bond Edition. This gets us talking about the Bond bikes, and rewatching the chase scenes from the Bond films. Some are hysterical and don't hold up over time, while others are still impressive to this day.
