Several of those cases involve (You guessed it!) Las Vegas, in which he resided for 8 years while working at the Hoover Dam. A girl named Joanne dated Gary on and off for over 8 years.. She gives some insight into his personality.. Hope College Film instructor David Schock came across Janet's story in the spring of 2003 while interviewing a detective who was retiring from the Holland police force. Schock asked if there was one case that still haunted the cop. Pointing to a photo of Janet that had been hanging on a bulletin board since 1979, the detective replied, "That Chandler case."
