Listen to WIIM Radio: The Mid-May Day Edition
Welcome to our newest WIIM Radio mailbag. We’ve got pretty minor Red Wings news to talk about in terms of how the Worlds are going for a few of our gents and some hockey news to cover. Here’s a rundown. Red Wings Autopsy - We’ll take another look back to see if another month of perspective has changed anything on the season and start looking forward. We’ll talk briefly about the draft, but will save the real in-depth stuff for an episode in June. Head-vs-Heart in rooting interests - With four teams left in the race, how do we pick who to cheer for? Is it Yzerman uber-alles or Ovi FTW? Do the Knights curry favor or the high-flying Jets? Let’s rank ‘em! Around the League - Player safety and refereeing is a big topic right now. We’ll hop around the table and pick each other’s brains like Tom Wilson is always trying to do. Reader Questions - My favorite part. You ask your questions and we’ll answer them. Please remember we’ll be doing a draft-heavy episode later, so we may be skipping those questions. Get your questions in prior to tonight’s recording and LGRW! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Sorry; still getting used to not having a post-season. This episode features me, Peter, and Kyle talking all things Wings. Here’s what we got up to: The Red Wings! What about Blashill? How about the hockey feelings coming back alive this spring now that we have things to look forward to other than the death of the Red Wings’ season? The Playoffs - Holy crap, Flyers; what the hell? We go over our locks and our sleepers for this playoff season. Positivity Corner - Grey skies are gonna clear up, put on a happy face. The kids are gonna cheer us, put on a happy face. WIIM Radio: The Streak-Buster Edition
Welcome to our newest not-on-a-losing-streak edition of WIIM Radio! We’ve got Kyle, J.J., and Mike B on this episode bringing you all the hottest Red Wings talk since the Wings ended their dreadful (but helpful) 10-game losing streak. Here’s what we got up to: The WINGS WON A GAME! Our long nightmare has ended as Detroit beat the Philadelphia Flyers and have only nine games remaining before the whole season is done for. We took a bit to take quick stock of things. Make Svetch Happen: Lots of griping about the usage of Svechnikov of late and not being used as a fourth-line grinder. It’s real hard to disagree with that kind of griping all things considered. Appreciating Dylan Larkin: The whole season at center has had ups and downs, but the maturation of Dylan Larkin has been a great bright spot for the Red Wings. Even better, but he might be killing off the idea of Justin Abdelkader being the next Wings’ captain How do you watch the game at this point? - Where does everybody stand on cheering on losses and how has that changed as the season has progressed? Around the League: The Hawks are done (hahahaha), the Blue Jackets are hot, Alex Ovechkin is racing to 50 goals again. Let’s go over the interesting storylines from around the league! Positivity Corner: Hard not to be positive when your team is WINNING GAMES LATELY. Yeah! Reader Questions: You asked the hard stuff and we gave you all the answers fit to print in my personal favorite segment of the show. As always, WIIM Radio is rated R for language and unlicensed outpatient surgery. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Interview: (32:01 - 1:10:30) We talk to Alex Novet about analytics, the Islanders, Josh Ho-Sang, and a lot of other things. Most Surprising: (1:10:30 - 1:24:58) Based on a listener question, we look at the most surprising teams and players. The Rat Patrol: (1:24:58 - end) We look at the latest from Brad Marchand and close out the episode. Look for Episode 18 in your podcast feeds and this website Monday morning.
