WIIM Radio: Season's Eve Edition
Welcome to the latest episode of WIIM radio! Today we’ve got Kyle, Peter, Mike, and me all here to make you struggle telling us apart (I’m Seth Rogen). Here’s what we got into in this episode: The Waiver Losses & Roster Choices - The Wings lost Frk and Pulkkinen to waivers in order to ensure they have the newest version of their grind line to put out there. It’s not the end of the world or anything, but it’s not exactly great either. The Defense - With Kronwall on IR retroactive and able to come back whenever he feels like it, we’ve got a limited window for Sproul/Ouellet to shine. What should we expect from the groupings we’ve got? The New Arrivals - Nielsen is the new center in town and Thomas Vanek will be the PP specialist coming around. Instead we talk about bus tickets and hot air balloon rides. Just kidding. Nielsen rules. Around the NHL - We go around the divisions and pick our winners. The Atlantic is still a bag of trash, but we’re not the only one! Reader Questions - Y’all asked some wonderful questions and we gave even better answers than you could have hoped. Really fantastic answers. The best answers ever, really. Everybody loves our answers. _ _ _ As always, WIIM Radio is rated R for language and heavily-implied coulrophilia. WIIM Radio: Hello Darkness My Old Friend (September 1st)
Well hi there, old friends! How’s about we have ourselves a Red Wings hockey podcast? It’s been a while since we’ve done one of these, so we apologize. Since training camp and preseason are just right around the corner, it’s time to start bantering about our beloved Red Wings again. We’ll cover everything that has happened over the past few weeks: The bad, the good, the beautiful, and the ugly! Let’s get it! Free agency! We signed a few new faces in Frans Nielsen, Thomas Vanek, and Steve Ott. How do we feel about them along with other UFA signings? What about RFA signings? How do we feel about those?Pavel Datsyuk is no longer a Red Wing, and is tearing up the KHL. Does it hurt? Of course it does! We’re going to whine into our wine about one of the greatest leaving.Ken Holland has done a lot of talking to mainstream media this offseason that comes off as concerning. We’re going to riff on that.World Cup of Hockey is upon us... Will you watch? Do you care? The Red Wings already have a slew of injuries which will hold out certain players. We’ll talk about that as well.As always, we will answer your questions that you leave in our comments. Don’t be shy, it’s been a while! As of right now, we will be broadcasting live at 10pm ET on Thursday, September 1st. We will update you if anything changes! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

WIIM Radio: Summer of Kenny 2.0 Edition
Welcome to our newest edition of WIIM Radio! This go-around, we’ve got me, Kyle, teandcakeordeath (Mike) and StraightOuttaSverdlovsk (Peter) joining in to talk all things Wings. We had a bit of a hiccup in going for 90 minutes before realizing we had lost the recording, so things are a bit hectic in here. Here’s what we got up to: The Start of Free Agency - The Wings got off to an earlier start on July 1st and kind of set the tone for the whole day with the Helm signing, but hindsight on it isn’t terrible... just that it wasn’t ideal either. The Need to Sign DeKeyser & Mrazek - Will both of these guys go to arbitration? Do we want that. We talk about which one we’d rather honestly go to arbitration and which one we’d rather give five years to.The Red Wings Sticking to the Plan & Trading for Defensemen - Trading for a guy is going to cost a bunch, but are the kids really the answer here? Reader Questions - Y’all asked some real good questions and we gave you decent to outright great answers. WIIM Radio is rated R for language and postal fraud. Learn more about your ad choices. WIIM Radio: Pre-Agency Craziness
Hoo boy do we have some stuff to talk about for you in this episode of WIIM Radio. We've got me, Kyle, Jeff, Graham, and Prashanth to talk about all of the craziness in the NHL in the past week and also to answer your reader questions. Here's what we got up to this week: The NHL Has Gone Nuts! - We lost out on the Stamkos Sweepstakes before it even started, as the Wings didn't even get a chance to talk to the guy before he re-signed in Tampa for a lockout-proof, buyout-proof $8.5M AAV eight-year deal. The Oilers traded Hall for a guy who's basically a decent top-four guy, but at least the Habs made themselves worse!Red Wings Free Agency Planning - Should they move for a young defenseman and a big forward? Get a center? Give term out? Maybe give out higher AAV for a shorter deal? Can we get Trouba or Shattenkirk still? How about homegrowing guys? The Draft - The Wings grabbed a bunch of defensemen, a goalie, and a power forward type. Most importantly though, he dumped the Datsyuk deal in a great deal. Graham talks the draft plan and Jeff is very pleased. Reader Questions - Lots of stuff came out today that we had covered by this section, but we got lots of good ones to go over as well. - - - You can listen via the embedded player above or download at our Blogtalk Radio Page. You can also find us on iTunes or Google Podcasts. Whatever works for you works for us too! WIIM Radio is rated R for language and illegal human cloning. Learn more about your ad choices. Listen to WIIM Radio: Draftstravaganza Edition!
WIIM radio is back again with our big Pre-Draft edition. We've got me, Jeff, Kyle, Mike, and Corey joining us again this time around to go over all things Wings, react to the NHL Awards, and get ready for the weekend's draft festivities. Here's what we got up to: Draft Time! - Kyle will be in Buffalo to say hi to all the Leafs fans who'll be descending upon the poor quiet villa, but we're going to be talking about it to get you prepped. Moving the Datsyuk Deal - What will it cost? What should the Wings spend? How the hell are we going to work that?! What's the point of even moving Datsyuk's deal if a guy like Stamkos isn't in the bag? The Jimmy Howard Deal - Will the Wings be able to move him with the list of buyers drying up? What about his effect on the expansion plan if you have to keep Howard around? Why am I using so many question marks? The NHL Awards Show - This was super boring and badly done, so we do what we do best: complain! The Las Vegas Expansion - If you watched the Awards Show, there's no way you couldn't have been incredibly aware that the expansion is coming. We'll go over what it means. Reader Questions - As always, you deliver great questions and we turn them into acceptable answers. - - - You can listen via the embedded player above or via our Blogtalk Radio page. You can also download from iTunes or Google Podcasts for your listening pleasure. However it works for you. WIIM Radio is rated R for language and illegally bringing fruit into California. WIIM Radio: Newcomers Edition
Welcome to our latest edition of WIIM Radio! This time around, we've got me, Jeff, and Kyle joined by two newcomers to the show in CoreyWIIM and Teandcakeordeath. We break them in for the offseason with this rundown of topics: The Penguins Won the Cup - Surprisingly most of us were happy with the Penguins winning, but we also have very good reasons, as emulating their success should work better for the Wings. The New Coaches - Between Torchetti and Houda, we've got some good fresh faces behind the bench to help out Blashill as the Red Wings try to develop a new team identity.Datsyuk - Hopefully we'll know the answer here before you're even done listening, but just in case, we talk about it and go over what teams might still take a dead-space deal. The Defensive Logjam - What should the Wings do to make space to test out the prospects at defense, or can they move guys? The Draft is Coming! - But who cares!Reader Questions - You asked some very solid questions and we gave semi-solid answers. That sounds gross, doesn't it? - - - You can listen via the embedded player above or download directly from our Blogtalk Radio page. We should also be available on iTunes or Google Podcasts. However you want to listen, we've got an option. Hell, I'll show up to your house and recreate the whole thing if you pay me enough. WIIM Radio is Rated R for language and cheating at Oregon Trail. WIIM Radio: Mid-May Edition
Welcome to our latest edition of WIIM Radio. This time around we didn't have a prospects report because we just had Michelle on for the whole show. She joined me, Kyle, and Lauren to shoot the breeze about the Wings. Here's what we got up to: The Griffins Run - Grand Rapids lost in six games to the Lake Erie Monsters. The series was kind of heartbreaking, but the NHL-caliber prospects played very well. Mantha, AA, Sproul, Jensen, Ouellet, Bertuzzi, and even Svechnikov played big boy hockey against a Monsters team pretty stacked with high-end prospects themselves. The World Championships - Nyquist has been a scoring machine on the bigger ice and against not-quite-NHL-level competition. Datsyuk is still technically a Red Wing and has an assist-per-game so far. Jurco has two goals, Larkin is playing well, and Alexey Marchenko has been playing big time for Team Russia.Coaching Carousel - Houda steps into Tony Granato's shoes to take over for a rebuilding defense, Fershweiler heads to the classroom to watch, Bedard steps out for Salajko, which potentially means the end of Howard and what about Todd Richards?Reader Questions - Lots of good questions this week and one weird one about African animals (thanks for the banner image idea). We hit all the good points that we had missed thanks to you readers. - - - WIIM Radio is rated R for language and high triglyceride content. Learn more about your ad choices. WIIM Radio: Season Autopsy Edition
The Wings' season is over, but there's still plenty left to talk about on our latest episode of WIIM Radio. Join along as me, Graham, and Kyle break things down while Michelle joins in to edify your asses on the lads in the pipeline. Here's what we got up to. The Red Wings are Done - What doomed the Wings this season and into the playoffs? How much of it was just bad luck versus how much of it was stuff they did wrong all season long? How to Right the Ship - Fixing the power play (including dealing with Abdelkader), time to stop "playing safe" and playing the damn kids for better or worse.Making the Moves - Ken Holland talks about getting more aggressive with trades. We take a look at some names out there and some potential trade destinations for Jimmy Howard.Prospects Report - With the Griffins still alive, Michelle runs us down the Griffins as they get ready for their 2nd round series against Lake Erie in the Calder Cup playoffs.Reader Questions - Y'all didn't get any FMKs or duck/Tangradi questions, so Kyle and Graham had a great time while I suffered through hosting this portion. Thanks a lot. The Rest of the Playoffs - Who do we hate the least who's left. Find out! - - - WIIM Radio is rated R for language and horse whispering. Learn more about your ad choices.
