In this week’s DENtalks episode, we are thrilled for the opportunity to chat with author, speaker and musician Justin Michael Williams about his new book Stay Woke: A Meditation Guide for the Rest of Us. This is not your typical meditation book, and that’s what we love about it. Justin calls it a guide for creating your favorite recipe - a recipe for meditation practice, that is! He gives you the ingredients and you choose what to use and how much, to create a recipe you can adjust as your preferences of meditation change. This episode is all about empowering yourself to make your practice your own! We’ll also talk about how current events are encouraging people to do both internal and external work and why both are vitally important in order to take action for yourself, your family, your community and for those who cannot take action for themselves. Justin’s works are often described as the intersection of social justice, mindfulness and personal growth, and in this episode he shares his own personal experiences that lead him to teach his ideas and offer advice to those who are struggling and those who want to learn.
