If we were to grant the philosophical arguments “proving” the existence of a God, what would change? Vi and Eric point out that it depends on the kind of god, and whether we could accurately pinpoint which religion was true (if any).

The troll is back, but just for a few minutes. He harasses the hosts by mocking how Vi proposed to Eric, and is quickly hung up on. To quote our favorite space ranger: he is a sad, strange little man, and he has our pity. Farewell.

What obligations for self-education do we have as skeptics, especially ones who have a platform like ours? Vi and Eric describe some best practices that they abide by, including incorporating research into their day to day, only speaking on subjects they have knowledge in, and being willing to say “I don’t know.”

A Pew Research poll suggests that only 30% of Americans label themselves as evangelicals, and most of them are conservative. Tim wants to know if he’s right to be upset at this small demographic that seems to be wrecking things for the rest of us. Vi offers a compassionate approach that lays the blame where it should be put: on Christianity as an institution and on politicians who take advantage of it.

Can atheism and religion coexist? Yes, of course, say the hosts. But can skepticism coexist with a lack of skepticism? That’s the real question, and the one we should be discussing.
