Why It Feels Harder To Be A Christian in 2026 (and what I'm doing about it)

Why It Feels Harder To Be A Christian in 2026 (and what I'm doing about it)

It's 2026, and if you're feeling the weight of these times as a Christian woman—the headlines, the division, the uncertainty—you're not alone. I'm feeling it too. This episode is about acknowledging what's real, processing it together, and figuring out how we show up with faith and purpose instead of fear.

THE GEOPOLITICAL LANDSCAPE AND MATTHEW 24 Wars, rumors of wars, global tensions escalating. As a former journalist, I read headlines from multiple sources, and honestly? My body physically reacts. My stomach was in knots the other day. Matthew 24 told us: "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but don't be alarmed. These things must happen, but the end is still to come." Even knowing that doesn't make it easier when you're raising kids. The last six years have felt like one escalation after another. So when I feel that heaviness, I take it directly to God. I ask Him for peace about the times we're living in and what we're supposed to do.

RAISING KIDS IN UNCERTAIN TIMES I have a 10-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter. What will the world look like when my son is 18? With AI transforming the workforce and everything shifting so rapidly—I'm asking God: What do I need to teach them? How do I raise this particular child for their specific calling? My hand is on their backs at night, praying specifically over each of them multiple times a day.

THE RISE OF CHRISTIAN INFLUENCERS AND ONLINE VOICES There are so many Christian content creators now—pastors, prophets, influencers—and it's harder than ever to discern who's who. With screens making it so easy to consume content, it's tempting to think watching a sermon online is enough. But I don't think God intended for that to be our primary source. We're supposed to be fed through local church and personal relationship with Jesus—everything else is supplemental. About these prophets and vague prophecies: If you read the Bible, Old Testament prophets were specific. Things only the Lord would know. When I hear blanket prophetic statements online, I'm cautious.

COMMITTING TO LOCAL CHURCH IN 2026 My husband and I are officially becoming members of our church this year. We've been attending for years, tithing, know the pastor—but never made it official. Now is the time to lock in. Real, in-person community with people who know us. A leader I can look in the eyes. The body of Christ in our town, not just on a screen. I'll bring you along on this journey.

THE "NEW BRAND" OF CHRISTIANITY There's a version of Christianity rising that on the surface might sound right. But the spirit behind it often feels like it's being used as a tool—for division more than love, to prop people up in ways that don't feel Christ-like. I've been disappointed by people I thought were my brothers and sisters. I'm working through that. We need to be close to the Father's voice—to discern when something is of God and when it's not.

FEELING BEHIND IN YOUR CALLING At 41 (turning 42), I've carried a calling to impact the world for Christ through media since I was a teenager. Sometimes it feels like I'm behind, like I took a wrong turn. I think that's a lie meant to distract us from the work God has for us now. So I'm showing up—right here. Using my voice. What's the one thing you can do today with your gifts?

WE WERE MADE FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS There's no mistake we're here, healthy and able-bodied now. Yes, we're facing unprecedented times. But we were born for this. I believe God's response will blow our minds. He uses us to carry out His purposes. Let's make 2026 not a year of fear, but a year where we walk into our calling—knowing we are called, in position, and ready.
