The Death Of Superman Lives!

Brad Gilmore returns to break down the wild, unbelievable story behind the Superman movie that never happened (which is also chronicled in the documentary, The Death Of Superman Lives). Tim Burton directing. Nicolas Cage as Superman. Kevin Smith writing the script. And somehow… it all fell apart. Brad and Chris dig into how this massive production got all the way to pre-production (costumes built, sets designed, millions spent) before being shut down just weeks before filming. They get into Kevin Smith’s original script, producer Jon Peters’ infamous “no tights, no flying, giant spider” rules, and how multiple rewrites, competing visions, and studio panic derailed everything. They also break down Nicolas Cage’s unique take on Superman, Tim Burton’s darker vision, the insane casting ideas (Sandra Bullock, Chris Rock, Christopher Walken), and the leaked costume photos that killed the movie before it even started. Plus, what Batman & Robin had to do with the plug getting pulled, how close this movie really was to shooting, and why this might be the most fascinating “what if” in Hollywood history.
