Day 11 The Slow Healing Wound

Day 11 The Slow Healing Wound

DAY 11 — THE SLOW HEALING WOUND

“Some Healings Happen Only in Silence”

A young man had a deep cut on his arm.
Every hour, he unwrapped the bandage
to see if the wound was healing.
He touched it, stretched it, examined it—
growing more frustrated each time.

Finally, during a checkup,
the doctor took his hand gently and said,
“Stop opening it.
You’re slowing down the healing.”

The man frowned.
“I just want to see progress.”

The doctor smiled softly.
“Some healing happens only when left untouched.
If you keep reopening a wound,
you force it to bleed over and over again.
Give it quiet time…
and it will close.”

For the first time,
the young man let the bandage stay on
and trusted what he couldn’t see.

There are wounds in your heart
that you keep reopening—
past guilt,
old mistakes,
memories that sting,
words that still echo,
sins you confessed but never forgave yourself for.

We examine these wounds again and again,
hoping to see instant progress,
but only injuring ourselves more.

Lent invites you to trust the slow healing hand of God.
Your soul will not heal by constant inspection,
but by resting in God’s mercy.

Grace works quietly.
Healing grows in silence.
Mercy seeps in when you stop touching the wound
and allow God to close it.

You don’t need to feel healed to be healing.
Let God work beneath the bandage.
