Day 14 The Stone in the Shoe

Day 14 The Stone in the Shoe

DAY 14 — THE STONE IN THE SHOE

A man went for a long walk along a river.
A few minutes in, he felt a small stone in his shoe.
At first, he ignored it.
Then he tried shifting his weight.
Then he limped slightly.

By the end of the walk,
his foot was blistered and bleeding.

A friend saw him limping and said,
“Why didn’t you remove the stone?”

He sighed,
“I thought I could manage.
It seemed too small to stop for.”

His friend shook his head gently:
“The small things hurt the deepest
when you refuse to face them.”

This is sin in our lives—
not always dramatic,
not always obvious,
but often small, recurring habits
that we learn to tolerate.

Lent is the season of stopping the walk
to remove the stone.
Not hiding it,
not limping with it,
not pretending we can manage—
but confronting it honestly before God.

Holiness doesn’t collapse because of mountains.
It collapses because of ignored pebbles.

Lent invites you to stop pretending.
To take the stone out
before it wounds your soul.
