This week's episode of Queer News is packed with historic milestones, urgent calls for justice, and accountability. Here is your social-media-ready breakdown of every story from Episode 328.

This Week's Top Story

NYU Langone abruptly ended gender-affirming care. New York Attorney General Letitia James Has Ordered Them To Resume Operations ASAP.

New York Attorney General Letitia James sets her sights on NYU Langone, ordering the Manhattan hospital to resume providing gender-affirming care weeks after they announced that they would be discontinuing their transgender youth health program. In a detailed letter Letitia's office explained that the hospital's sudden closure violates "the state's anti-discrimination laws by jeopardizing access to medically necessary healthcare for some of the most vulnerable New Yorkers." In the letter, she gave NYU Langone until March 11th to resume providing gender-affirming care or face "further action".

Since Trump's 2025 executive order to cease gender-affirming care for minors, more than 40 hospitals nationwide have complied and closed their gender-affirming care for minors including California's biggest youth hospital Rady Children's Health which we reported on back in episode 323. Hospitals complying to the government at this rate sets a dangerous precedent for the government's involvement in one's personal healthcare, so it's great to see attorney generals such as Letitia James be vocal against this attempted tyrannical takeover.

This Week In Politics

LGBTQ+ Federal Employees Speak Out on Suing Trump

A handful of LGBTQ+ federal employees have come forward to talk about their decision to sue Trump. Some commonalities in the cases include wrongful termination, blatant discrimination, and flagrant civil rights violations that are still being upheld by the current administration. Similarly all of these surfaced after Trump's onslaught of executive orders signed back in January of 2025. Illinois National Guard lead military and family readiness specialist LeAnne Withrow, NSA data scientist Sarah O'Neill, Former FBI employee David Maltinsky, TSA officer Danielle Mittereder, and the entire The Human Rights Campaign Foundation are amidst the group of LGBTQ+ federal employees who have come forward.

Florida Suddenly Cuts Funding For HIV and AIDS Health Care

Florida has suddenly cut funding for both HIV and AIDS health care on March 1st. This move puts tens of thousands of people at risk as they scramble to find additional financial assistance coverage for their medication. Florida's Department of Health announced the cuts to the AIDS Drug Assistance Program or ADAP for short last month. New federal guidelines dictate that the change in ADAP policy states that the program "will now only serve people who earn at or below 130% of the federal poverty level, or roughly $20,345." Mind you 60% of Floridians are enrolled in ADAP but due to the policy change more than half of those enrolled in the program will no longer qualify for financial aid.

The emergency rule is only in effect for the next 90 days and it can be renewed. Still numerous people are left without financial aid for necessary medication, and must find aid elsewhere or survive until the 90 days are up.
