118. Giving Up Perfectionism in Motherhood with Risen Motherhood's Laura Wifler

On Risen Motherhood Laura has talked about how motherhood is joy-filled and hard. The two are so intertwined it can feel a bit like a moment-to-moment rollercoaster. (I'm the best/I'm the worst) Laura reminds us that hard life circumstances can lead us back to the foot of the cross. When we are weak it shows how desperately we need Jesus. But how? When we are already sipping cold coffee while doing the sink full of dirty dishes? How do we cultivate a deeper relationship with Jesus?

How has life looked the way you expected it to, and how is it different from what you expected?

I've found I haven't understood the beauty of the gospel until everything started to go off the rails. What was that moment for each of you?

Were you tempted to navigate toward a parenting formula? What caused you to steer away from that?

On the podcast before we've talked about how we run into discontentment when we compare ourselves to all the moms (ie crunchy mom, athletic mom, homeschool mom, stay-at-home mom) You take it a step further and say the problem is coming from what we define ourselves by entirely. Can you talk more about that?

Practically, how do we begin to define ourselves by who God says we are to become "Gospel Moms?"

How do you find time to form yourself by the word of God to be shaped in his likeness as a "Gospel Mom?"
