Reinvention and Discovery at 30,000 Feet: The Journey of Oscar and Rose Smith

Before their aviation chapter began, both Oscar and Rose built successful corporate careers. Rose served as an innovative and sought-after Human Resources Director, known for her leadership and ability to guide organizations and people through complex challenges. After retiring from corporate leadership and living in multiple cities, the couple chose an unexpected next chapter.

They joined Delta Airlines and made history as Delta Airlines’ first married flight attendant couple, traveling extensively and gaining a unique perspective on people, cultures, and the shared human experiences that connect us all.

Oscar also reflects on growing up as a preacher’s kid in the historic AME Church and how that early spiritual foundation shaped his understanding of leadership, service, and purpose.

Today, the couple continues their impact through the L. Christina Smith Foundation, honoring legacy while investing in future generations. In this conversation, they share insights on reinvention, mentorship, and the role seasoned leaders can play in guiding emerging leaders.
