A weak central government was wasn't a bug in the code. It was the feature. It was the primary feature. But, I mean, designing a weak government sounds great for freedom in theory. What happens when that weak design meets the brutal, unforgiving reality of actually fighting a war and, you know, managing a wartime economy? Total systemic failure, just total collapse, because the most glaring flaw of the Articles of Confederation was that Congress had absolutely no power to tax, none whatsoever. None. They could only request money from the states. And
