Member 005 - Winstanley's Wonder: The First Eddystone Lighthouse

This time around I figured we’d draw in near to shore and take a look at a famous lighthouse, or, at least a portion of the history connected to one of England’s most famous lights. The Eddystone Lighthouse was the first lighthouse built offshore, atop the craggy, dangerous rocks of the English Channel. The man who oversaw the construction was Henry Winstanley, an eccentric inventor and socialite in England. His decision to build the lighthouse brought him fame, but it also brought him a stint in a French jail and, in the end, it brought an end to his life. It's a long episode this time but it's a fascinating story for sure!
