How can Fresh help kickstart your career? (May 17, 2021)

Unemployment, It’s a figure that’s constantly on the mind of South Australian’s and in particular young South Australia.

Fresh in partnership with the Marshall Liberal Government have launched a new initiative to help kickstart your careers.

The online platform, which can be accessed at freshjobs.com.au, is designed to help connect job seekers with services, training and information to help people find work.

On the site you will find all the information you need to help get you job ready.

Jarrad sat down with our favourite executive producer and content manager Zane Dean to help explain exactly how best to use the site.

For those who missed it Johnny from Brekky and Zane had a chat with State Premier Steven Marshall about the challenges South Australia have to tackle and how to lower South Australia’s youth unemployment rate of 15%.

Also on the show we take a look at One Nation State Leader Mark Latham who’s recently introduced a Bill in NSW which has drawn heavy criticism for its direct attacks on the LGBTQI+ community.

Many have labelled The Education Legislation Amendment (Parental Rights) Bill 2020 as incredibly harmful – as it actively denies the existence of trans people.

• prohibits schools from teaching that trans and gender diverse people exist and should be treated with respect;
• prohibits school counsellors from affirming a trans or gender diverse student or providing them with any support or referrals to gender affirming support;
• puts teachers at risk of losing their job when they support a trans or gender diverse student in affirming their identity;
• eshrines biological fallacies, describing intersex people as disordered;
• allows parents to deny their children access to lessons in public schools which may contradict their political, social or personal values, including their views about LGBTIQ+ people;
• requires schools to present discredited counter narratives when teaching classes like science or history. For example, discussing creationism when teaching evolution, raising anti-vaccination theories when teaching about immunisation, or raising racist ideologies to explain the over representation of First Nations people in prison.

Our reporter Hamish sat down with Pat a trans man who transition journey began in his final year of high school, and what it would’ve meant for him had a bill like this been in effect when he first began transitioning.

Also this week on Wavelength Explains, David breaks down the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine. Touching on the last 100 year’s of history that have lead to the recent re-escalation of military strikes between the two.
