THE QUANTUM PAPERS FILE 007: THE TIMELINE TENSION

THE AUDIT:There is a massive argument happening in the Church today: How old is the Earth? One side says 6,000 years; the other says billions. As someone who spends time in both the science lab and the sanctuary, I want to lower the volume on this debate. In this file, we aren’t here to pick a side—we’re here to look at the evidence for both views and remember that your faith isn't based on a geology exam.

KEY DATA POINTS:

The Young Earth Logic: We look at "surprises" in nature—like soft tissue found in dinosaur bones and sea creatures on top of Mt. Everest—that suggest the Earth might be younger than we think.
The Old Earth Logic: We explore the "Ancient Evidence," like starlight from galaxies billions of light-years away and the slow pressure needed to bend solid rock.
The "Ready-to-Use" Theory: A simple look at the first man, Adam. If he was created as a grown man, he looked 30 years old but was only 5 minutes old. Could the universe have been created "fully grown" too?
The Fear Factor: Why do we fight so hard about this? We look at why the "Who" (God created it) is way more important than the "When."

THE VERDICT:The Bible isn't trying to tell us when the Earth was made; it’s telling us why it was made. Whether we’ve been here for a blink of an eye or for ages, the Architect is the same.
