Two Duggar Brothers Charged Involving Children — The Pattern Is the Point

Two Duggar Brothers Charged Involving Children — The Pattern Is the Point

If it were one brother, you could call it a failure. Two brothers — same house, same parents, same rules, same religion, same parenting philosophy that Jim Bob and Michelle took on the road and taught to other families as a model — that's not a failure. That's a pattern. And the pattern is what this episode is about.

Josh is in federal prison. Joseph now faces felony charges in Florida for the alleged molestation of a nine-year-old girl, plus Arkansas charges for both him and Kendra involving the welfare of their own children. The family that told America they had the blueprint for raising Godly children has now produced two sons facing allegations or convictions tied to the harm of minors. And the system Jim Bob and Michelle built — the courtship rules, the obedience structure, the locks reportedly found on the outside of children's bedroom doors — that system is still being defended by people inside this family.

Robin Dreeke — retired chief of the FBI's Counterintelligence Behavioral Analysis Program — looks at the family itself. The structure. The philosophy. The culture inside that house that made it possible for this to happen more than once. If you've been following this family because you believed in what they were selling — or because you always suspected something was wrong — this is the conversation where the pattern becomes undeniable.
