Why do narcissistic relationships feel chemically addictive? The truth is more disturbing than most people realize. Narcissists do not addict you to them. They addict you to yourself. Then they quietly take control of the production and withholding of your own feel-good hormones. During the idealization phase, they mirror you, amplify you, and reflect back your most desired self-image. The confidence, excitement, chemistry, and euphoria you feel are not coming from them.
