In this episode of History Squirt, we unpack "Nazi Finland" the wild, complicated WWII saga where Finland teamed up with Nazi Germany as a co-belligerent (not full ally, they insist) during the Continuation War (1941–1944). After getting hammered in the Winter War by the Soviets and losing territory, Finland cozied up to Hitler to reclaim land and push back against Stalin, letting German troops stage from Finnish soil for Operation Barbarossa. Finland eventually turned their back on the strange alliance, signing the Moscow Armistice and turned on the Germans in the Lapland War, scorching earth style in the north.
