#341. Whistleblower on British Police Corruption - Chris Amey

Chris Amey opens up about three decades in policing - from joining the Met in the early nineties to dealing with football hooliganism, riots, major events, and the changing face of the force. From Chelsea, Millwall, West Ham and Tottenham clashes to control rooms, CCTV, public order units and moments of real danger, he reflects on what it was like policing London when the streets could turn quickly.

But behind the uniform was a career shaped by pressure, politics, trauma, and frustration. Chris speaks honestly about austerity, recruitment, falling standards, police pay, vetting failures, misconduct, PTSD, and why he believes modern policing has become fractured. He also reflects on high-profile cases, the Jill Dando murder, the London riots, and the officers he believes have been failed by the system.

After leaving the Met for Dorset, Chris helped tackle crime in Boscombe before later facing his own battle inside the organisation he had served for almost thirty years. It’s a raw look at loyalty, leadership, public service, and what happens when the job changes beyond recognition.
