#164 - Sam Newman - TV’s Most Controversial Personality

John "Sam" Newman is a former 300 game legend of the Geelong Football Club and AFL Hall of Famer. He was the star of "The Footy Show" for 25 years and is the host of the controversial podcast "You Cannot Be Serious".

Whether you love him or hate him, there really is only on Sam Newman.

We were honoured to be welcomed into Sam's studio and generously be given some of his time. And as it usually is in the life of Sam, he is in the news currently.

But hopefully after listening to this podcast, you will see a few different sides to Sam and in some instances, moments that humanise him from the stoic man that he is.

From the hilarious Footy Show stories that left us with tears of laughter, to the reflective stories of some of his great mates like Eddie McGuire, Jason Dunstall & Shane Crawford, when Sam gets on a humorous run, you can't slow him down!

And stay tuned for the 10 meter swimming pool diving board story...it is an absolute classic!

Sam shared some of his other famous anecdotes. From being broke and getting back on his feet through provocative interviews for the paper, to the infamous Triple M talk back moment, there's some beauties in here!

And of course, Sam shares some unfiltered views and opinions on current events and the AFL.

But one of the tougher moments to listen to on this podcast was when Sam reflected on the sudden and tragic loss of his wife. The pain in his voice tells it all.
