An Interview with the VAMPIRE KING

Askia continues New Orleans Month, sitting down with fangsmith and Vampire King Maven Lore to break down the real life Vampire Community: cult escapes, blood raves, vampires hunters, and all. From 17 years inside a cult to the truth about blood-drinking, this one goes places most podcasts won't.

Maven Lore has been in the Vampire Community since the 90s, long before it was an aesthetic. He coined the term "fangsmith" in 1998, ran blood raves with stage blood, witnessed actual wood-stake attacks from self-proclaimed vampire hunters, and spent 17 years inside a cult he had to claw his way out of. Pixie brings her own harrowing story of escaping a predatory religious group that targeted her family after her father's death.

Together, they dismantle Hollywood vampire mythology, explain why New Orleans sits at a spiritual crossroads, and make a case for why being weird is not only okay, it's worth protecting. This episode covers vampire folklore across global cultures, the very real dangers of cheap permanent fangs, how cult behavior sneaks up on even the most skeptical people, and why the Vampire Court of New Orleans was structured like a town hall, not a throne room.
