My Precious Andy Serkis

Andy Serkis is one of the true pioneers of motion capture acting, and is responsible for bringing some of the biggest characters in movie history to life including Gollum in The Lord of the Rings, Caesar in Planet of the Apes, King Kong, and Supreme Leader Snoke in the Star Wars sequel trilogy! Andy explains how he created Gollum’s iconic voice and physicality, why Peter Jackson put him in the scenes with Elijah Wood and Sean Astin instead of using a tennis ball, and how motion capture technology evolved throughout the LOTR trilogy. He talks about studying real apes in Rwanda for Planet of the Apes, wearing weighted suits while playing King Kong, and why Caesar from Planet Of The Apes became one of the most emotional characters he’s ever portrayed. Andy also shares stories from inside the secretive Star Wars universe, reveals his reaction to Snoke’s shocking death scene, and explains why performance capture acting is still misunderstood 25 years later.
