#92 - Can running make you MORE stressed?

Running is often described as one of the best tools for managing stress, improving mental health, and helping us cope with the demands of life. But what happens when the very thing we use to manage stress becomes another source of it?

Today, we explore the complicated relationship between running and stress. Although we think of running as an escape, training itself is a stressor. Mileage, intensity, strength training, work, travel, relationships, poor sleep, bad news, financial worry, and life responsibilities all place demands on the same system.

In this episode, Tommy discusses why the body doesn't distinguish between different types of stress, how running can both help and hinder our wellbeing, and why learning to tune into your own stress levels is one of the most important skills any runner can develop.

Whether you're training for your first 10K, an ultra marathon, or simply trying to balance running with a busy life, this episode will help you better understand the true cost of training and how to avoid turning something you love into another source of overwhelm.
