Amazon Prime Video to Add Ad-Tier Version Amazon Prime Video is adding an ad-tier version in early 2024. Existing users will automatically be on the ad tier, with the option to pay an extra $2.99 monthly for the ad-free plan. The roll-out will start in the US, UK, Germany, and Canada, with France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, and Australia to follow later in the year. Rupert Murdoch Steps Down from Fox Corp Rupert Murdoch stepped down as chairman of Fox Corp on September 22, 2023. He will remain CEO and chairman of News Corp, the parent company of Fox News and The Wall Street Journal. His son, Lachlan Murdoch, will become chairman of Fox Corp. Hollywood Strikes Reach Agreement The Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Directors Guild of America (DGA) reached an agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) on September 23, 2023, averting a strike. The new three-year contract includes higher wages, better health care benefits, and more streaming residuals. The agreement also includes new diversity and inclusion initiatives.
