Hr: Ljeto je bilo vruće i suho.
En: The summer was hot and dry.

Hr: Stara utvrda stajala je ponosno iznad Jadranskog mora, s pogledom na razrušenu obalu.
En: The old fortress stood proudly above the Adriatic Sea, overlooking the ruined coast.

Hr: Ivana i Mladen, posljednji članovi svoje obitelji, živjeli su u toj tvrđavi.
En: Ivana and Mladen, the last members of their family, lived in that fortress.

Hr: Iako su zidovi bili oštećeni, pružali su im zaštitu.
En: Although the walls were damaged, they provided them with protection.

Hr: Ivana je svakog jutra ustajala rano.
En: Ivana rose early every morning.

Hr: Provjeravala je zalihe hrane i vode.
