Rachel Gillibrand: Unveiling the Neuroscience Behind Hypnosis

W Dr. Rachel Gillibrand brings a unique blend of psychology and neuroscience to the table, sharing her journey from traditional therapeutic practices to the more personalized technique of hypnotherapy, inspired by a character in a Guy Ritchie movie. Throughout the episode, we'll explore how hypnosis can tap into the creative recesses of our minds, enhance problem-solving abilities, and lead to profound emotional and psychological healing. Rachel discusses her findings on brain activity during hypnosis and the effective use of metaphor and language patterns in facilitating positive change. As we unpack the societal pressures that restrict our mental and creative spaces, Rachel advocates for a therapeutic environment that fosters safety and personal growth. Whether you're a professional in the field or simply curious about the transformative power of hypnotherapy, this episode promises to offer valuable insights and enlightening discussions. Join us as we delve into the subconscious, discuss the practical applications of hypnotherapy, and discover how it can lead to extraordinary change in our daily lives.

Rachel Gillibrand embarked on her journey in psychology at the University of Cardiff, where she pursued extensive training that culminated in her earning a Doctorate in Psychology. Her career began in academia, where she passionately engaged in teaching aspiring psychologists. Over time, Rachel's dedication to her field led her to reconsider her professional path. By 2015, she found herself questioning her engagement solely in teaching; her curiosity and love for hands-on practice in psychology urged her to embrace a more direct approach in her career. Rachel decided to refresh her skills and broaden her perspective, leading her to explore and integrate hypnosis into her practice. This new inclusion addressed her desire to move away from the more rigid, protocolized methods she previously encountered, allowing her a renewed vigor and flexibility in treating her clients.
