Peter Turchin is a complexity scientist, who mathematically models the statistical dynamics of historical societies. He coined the theory of “Elite Overproduction”. He argues in his books and papers that societies make workers just like they make anything, a car goes through a factory, and a college graduate goes through a few decades of schooling.
