Shiftheads - He Walked 14,000 Kilometres to Learn Life’s Most Important Lesson

Rocco Rossi has walked the Camino de Santiago 23 times since 2002, and what started as a way out of a corporate career he no longer believed in has become something he returns to every year. His new novel, Finding Grace, pulls two decades of that walking into fiction.

A mentor's sudden death during a business trip is what first put him on the trail, chasing clarity a promotion could never give him. Rossi explains how thirty days of walking, day after day with nowhere to hide from your own thoughts, became the tool he still relies on, and how the people he met along the way became the characters in his book.

Somewhere in that first thousand kilometres, five kilometres from the finish line, a small encounter on the side of the road changed what the entire walk had been for. Rossi still cannot tell the story without his voice catching.

Topics: Camino de Santiago, Finding Grace, pilgrimage walking, corporate burnout, walking stick story
