What Does D4VD's Alleged Post-Crime Behavior Tell Investigators?

He allegedly released an album two days after prosecutors say Celeste Rivas Hernandez was killed. He toured for months. He performed in Minneapolis the night after her remains were found in his Tesla across the country in Los Angeles. This look back, with retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer, reads that alleged behavior for what it reveals.

Coffindaffer examines the profile of someone who allegedly carries something this extreme while functioning publicly at the highest level — the compartmentalization, the performance, the ability to project normalcy while investigators were quietly building a case behind the scenes. She also addresses the gap between what Burke's circle reportedly believed and the documented reality: they allegedly thought the girl in his orbit was a nineteen-year-old college student. She was a fourteen-year-old from Lake Elsinore who had been reported missing three times and hadn't attended school for a full year.

The segment also raises hard questions about evidence handling. LAPD reportedly held the Tesla containing Celeste's remains for only forty-eight hours before releasing it. Coffindaffer assesses what that means for the physical evidence and for the defense's ability to challenge the forensic case at trial. Burke's team initially described him as cooperative; LAPD later said he was not and reportedly had help in the handling of the remains. Burke faces first-degree murder with special circumstances, additional charges related to the victim's age, and a count related to the condition of her remains. He has pleaded not guilty. We revisit where the case stood at the time of our reporting.
